The Setter of Attention: Sydney McCutcheon

This package was created in collaboration with Joe Kopsho, my classmate in SPTM 4800, Multiplatform Storytelling for Sports.

The assignment was to create a video story for our assigned beat, Jackson County High School volleyball. Before filming, Joe and I had a few ideas for stories, but when we went to film a practice, McCutcheon’s leadership quickly emerged as the obvious story.

We wanted to highlight McCutcheon’s role as “a second coach” as coach Fowler put it, but we also saw the unique connection between McCutcheon and Paisley Gillespie.
